To mark World Red Cross Day, the Maryam Khalif Foundation proudly joined the global humanitarian community in celebrating the life-saving work of the Red Cross Movement. In Mandera County, the celebration was held across two key locations—Moi Girls Secondary School and Kamor Mixed Secondary School—under the theme “Keeping Humanity Alive.” Our team actively participated in organizing and executing impactful community activities focused on youth engagement, environmental conservation, and menstrual hygiene awareness.

One of the main highlights of the day was a tree planting exercise, where students, teachers, and volunteers came together to plant over 200 indigenous trees within the school compounds. This act not only symbolized environmental responsibility but also aligned with our Climate Change and Action program, which emphasizes reforestation and climate resilience. We used the opportunity to sensitize the students on the importance of trees in combating desertification and improving air quality, especially in arid regions like Mandera.

The event fostered a sense of unity and shared responsibility, reminding the youth and the broader community of the power of collective action. We were honored to stand alongside local Red Cross volunteers, school administrators, and county officials in celebrating humanitarian values and reinforcing our shared mission to protect lives and uphold dignity.
