Gender Technical Working Group Meeting

Admin June 24th, 2025 09:00 AM

On June 24, 2024, the Maryam Khalif Foundation actively participated in the Gender Technical Working Group (GTWG) meeting held at Amara Blue Resort. The session brought together key stakeholders from government departments, civil society organizations, humanitarian agencies, and grassroots groups to discuss pressing gender-related issues, with a particular focus on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) prevention and response mechanisms.

The meeting provided a platform for information sharing, collaboration, and strategy development aimed at strengthening coordination in GBV interventions across the county. Participants reviewed progress made, identified existing gaps in service delivery, and proposed joint solutions for improving survivor support, community sensitization, and enforcement of protective policies. Maryam Khalif Foundation shared field insights and advocated for increased investment in local awareness campaigns and adolescent-focused interventions in hard-to-reach areas.

The event reinforced our commitment to gender equality and served as a reminder that ending GBV requires collective action, sustained advocacy, and strong community systems. We remain dedicated to working with partners through such forums to ensure every woman, girl, boy, and man in Mandera can live free from violence, fear, and discrimination.
